(d)  I was an assistant for catechism teacher's. The grade levels varied from first grade to twelfth grade, therefore I got to work with kids in varied age groups, and different teachers.

INTERPRETIVE
I would take over the class sometimes, try to help the kids do classwork, and do anything the teacher needed.
APPLIED
As I worked with the kids I started to realize how much they changed with  the way they acted around me.  At the beginning when I did not know them they would be shy and timid, or extra crazy, or just lazy.  Now, towards the end of the year these same kids grew attached to me and, remarkable things happened, these kids became more involved in the class and much less scared, the crazy kids were more respectable and knew not tot cross certain boundaries.  While the lazy ones put in more effort in actually ding their work.  This independent component was intended to allow me to interact with children, for my topic is solely based on them.  Although, it also helped me answer my EQ, my answers are mentorship, stability, and tutoring.  I was a mentor to the children, I was working with them consistently and will stay with them until their last day of class this shows stability.  These two answers alone showed me that they did affect their learning process and attitudes, which can also work for high school progress.

Blog 15: Independent Component 2 Approval

Independent Component 2 Plan Approval
1) For my independent study component I am going to tutor kids, but I still need to find a certified place.
2) If I tutor then I will have to tutor the kids every week to help improve their grades, which will give me enough hours.
3) Well one of my answers for my EQ is for foster kids to get tutoring in the beginning years of their education.  This will improve their highschool graduation rates, so I am checking for my self to see if it helps.

Blog 14: Independent Component 1 :)

Independent Component 1:
1) Literal:- I, Victoria Yzaguirre, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
-Rose Ladore, (909) 421-7030
-https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArVP6k0cgHZ5dDVqQVZmdkJ6VFNkOHJ2N2R2ZnA4amc#gid=0
- I was the assistant of a catechist.  I worked with the kids by helping with assignments and making sure they were on task. :)  I also shadowed my mentor and listened in on appointments for foster care and my foster care club I dealt with the different fundraisers.

2) Interpretive:- I was in charge of making money, clothes, and toy donations, which I did.  I did this by going through paper processes making boxes, having club meetings, take donations to trinity youth services.  Taking notes during the shadowing of my mentor, and being surrounded by 1st and 2nd graders that need your help. :)
This is the notes on the interview she had with a client :)

This is only some of the donations the rest I turned in already:

3) This helped me because, I got to be in an environment with kids, and it reminded how smart, but still fragile they are.  Also, my mentor always cleared things up for me about foster care that confused me.

Independent Component and Research Blog 10

Senior Project Update

1. In my independent component I am starting to volunteer at Blessed John XXIII church classes.  I will be a teachers assistant, so that I can be in the surroundings of children.

2.  A recent piece of research would be an article I found through 'California Department of Education', I heard about the site through Mrs. Pittman.  It shows data on highschool graduation rates, this will help me with my next step of my senior project, science fair.

3. Here is the research article :"Enrollment, Graduation, and Dropouts (CA Department of Education)."DataQuest (CA Dept of Education). N.p., n.d. Web. 2 Dec. 2012. <http://dq.cde.ca.gov/dataquest/EnrGradDrop.asp>.
